Top Freelancer Cinematographer in Colorado

Hi, I’m Colin

Thanks for checking out the website! My life’s voyage started off in Maine, where I spent the first 25 years of my life. Through impassioned parents, family and friends, I spent much of my time sailing on the Maine coast and exploring the trails and mountains in the rugged Maine wilderness. Throughout high school I started to curate my interest in film and video-editing through documenting adventures with friends; mostly getting cold via water or snow and promoting our stellar adolescent behavior. I attended Colby College, a four year liberal arts school in Waterville, Maine where I received a degree in Cultural Anthropology. I also spent 4 years on Colby’s nordic ski team, mostly suffering, but also building a strong work ethic and the fitness base that would allow me to assist cameramen who needed large (read: heavy) quantities of gear hauled around with them in the mountains. This was my ticket to working with Warren Miller Films and my path to my current home in Boulder, Colorado.

I make my living as a freelance cinematographer; 15 years and counting

I cut my teeth working on adventure documentaries with, in my opinion, some to the best action sports cinematographers in the world. I gained a respect for a small and efficient working crew and handling production in adverse locations and climates.

While I still film on the Warren Miller ski movie each year, I have found myself working in a variety of genres and have loved the challenges that each new production brings. I have been lucky enough to film on all 7 continents; from the tops of tree canopies in the rainforest, to large sets with fancy lighting and camera toys.

When I am not messing around with settings and staring at the waveform, I love spending time with my family in the wilds of Colorado. Biking, skiing, and camping are all on the short list.
